CERVO | Hunting lodge vibes and Matterhorn views

It is no secret that Zermatt is our favorite holiday destination in Switzerland. No other place can offer more world-class hiking, skiing and dining. In terms of gastronomy and wellness, the CERVO Mountain Boutique Resort has made a name for itself. Time to find out why!

Arriving in Zermatt

A two hour train ride brings us from the Swiss capital Bern to the picturesque mountain village of Zermatt. We are lucky, the next few days promise the best weather possible!

A driver picks us up from the train station and drops us off at the boutique resort. We get greeted at the doorstep and ushered to the marvellous terrace, where we enjoy some welcome drinks. What a start into our holidays!

The CERVO is made up of several chalets, all designed in the typical way for this region of Switzerland. Meaning, wood is the dominant element, complimented with light colored stone roofs. We truly enjoy strolling around on the property, the Matterhorn always well visible!

Dinner for hunters and gatherers

It is astonishing that world-class gastronomy can be found here at 1’600 meters above sea level. In a place, where only a few alpine farmers managed to get by a mere century ago. Their legacy of preparing food in a resourceful and creative way has luckily been passed on to the current generation.

The Boutique Resort hosts two restaurants on its property. With 14 Gault-Millau points, the CERVO Puroguarantees to satisfy every gourmet. We opt for a surprise three course meal to share. The chef prepares four dishes per course and exceeds our expectations by far! Most dishes have a distinctive Alpine character. However, we notice a clear influence from Northern Italy as well. The surprise menu is definitely something we recommend to all foodies out there!

Rooms with a view and privacy

The CERVO strives to create a familial atmosphere. Hence, they host all their guests in seperate chalets which offer just a handful of rooms each. Every chalet comes with its own spa area. We had the pleasure to stay in a Roof Deluxe Room with stunning views of the Matterhorn.

The wellness area in our chalet offers a sauna, sanarium, outdoor whirlpool, authentic bucket showers, Kneipp basins and a massage room. Outside, a terrace offers views of the Matterhorn!

The spa is not the only treat at the CERVO. It is the breakfast on the terrace that has won our hearts. Facing the Matterhorn, we are eating delicacies like eggs benedict, french toast and pancakes. Fresh juices, smoothies and prosecco complete the wonderful breakfast. What a start into the day!

A gentleman’s dream comes true in Zermatt

The CERVO’s interior design aims to create an atmosphere, that reminds of a hunting lodge. Trophies of stags can be found in many places. Since we are fascinated with the Scottish Highlands, we immediately fall in love with this concept! A nice selection of whiskies and cigars is completing this gentleman’s dream.

As our stay comes to an end, we are sad about leaving this wonderful place. At the same time, we feel relaxed and ready to face the next challenges. Hence, the stay at the CERVO had the desired effect. We can’t wait to be back!
